There's something to be said for a band that utilizes its musical powers for good and not for evil, in that the music is devoid of self-indulgence. In the case
of Maps & Atlases, songs largely based around guitar tapping are pulled off swiftly and tastefully. With masterful guitar work played over one of the most solid
rhythm sections heard within the past few years, this Chicago-spawned quartet successfully bridges the gap between indie and progressive rock. Maps & Atlases
spares the pretention and gives its listeners a sound that is clean and pleasant, while stimulating as well. By doing so, Maps & Atlases has claimed its throne
as one of the most prominent gems in Chicago's local music scene.
